It is only now, 30 years after the war began that many people, still deeply traumatised, feel able to open up to talk about the events surrounding the brutal siege of this town. Many previously secret documents are being made public, such as minutes from meetings at the White House with President Clinton and British Cabinet papers, giving us new and extraordinary insights into the decision-making process. In addition we see the threat of war in the Balkans hovering on the horizon once more. With Russia pursuing war in Ukraine that threatens peace in Europe and supporting far right extremists in the Serb entity of Bosnia - Republika Srpska, this is a very sensitive time for Bosnia Herzegovina. There continues to be a denial of events during the war, especially ethnic cleansing and genocide; the need to establish and show accurate historical facts is more important than ever.
